And you Can Tell Everybody, This is Your Song

A friend received a personalized music CD from a small company and I thought it was a great idea. Her daughter’s name was threaded throughout various lullabies, and Lexi seemed to love it. Unfortunately, when I tried to find one that played more than just lullabies, I did not have any luck. Then, a few weeks ago, an an email from Candace Alper, sat in my inbox, offering me a chance to review a CD from her company, Name Your Tune.As soon as I received my CD, I tore it open before I even got Mya situated in the living room. The design was even more vibrant than it looked on the website. And, Mya’s name was printed across the top in big black letters. I popped the CD in my CD/DVD player connected to my TV. As soon as she heard the music, Mya turned and smiled at me. She has always loved music, so that was no surprised, but what surprised me was that every time she heard her name (which the singers knew to pronounce My-a and not Mi-a), she looked right at the speakers. I’m not kidding.
We have listened to the CD numerous times in the car, in the living room, in her bedroom and even at her grandparents’ house. What I like the most about this CD is that the songs go from very energetic to mellow. I can play the CD right before bed and by the time it get to the end she is exhausted from dancing and is lulled to sleep with the “ABC Medley” and the “I Don’t Want to Live on the Moon” ballad.
This CD is a pleasure to listen to and uses quite a bit of imagination and creativity. Even well-known favorites like “Head and Shoulders” are sung in different ways. I suggest you stock up on these for any child’s upcoming birthday or for Christmas. Every child loves to hear his/her name in a song. Now, you can stop making up songs like “Ma-Ma-My-A-Roni” and allow the professionals to do it for you.
Oh, and every time you purchase a CD from Name Your Tune, a portion of the sale will be donated to Hear Here in Toronto. Hear Here provides children with hearing aides so they too can enjoy the music.
